Blogs, essentially do the same thing, present information and then allow a discussion format to follow. People can be as creative as the choose. Some with decorative backdrops, and others very plain. It seems that most blogs have to do with something that someone is passionate as well;, although, some are to convey information. Most are to stimulate thought and often stir interest, promoting and motivating
Reading is a little different in that video can be included as in Angela’s blog,

It is similar because you can convey scientific inforation, much like a text b ook (http://missbakersbiologyclass.com/blog/2010/01/25/sickle-cell-anemia-isnt-half-bad/). Even thought Stevie was conveying scientific information, it was interesting. He was able to stimulate a conversation about other forms of heterozygote advantage. I was not interested in this topic, but as I read through the blogs, I gained an awareness of it and became interested in the discussion.
Bob Spankle did a great job of using an analogy to get the reader interested in what he sees as the problem with education today, and how it needs to change. I would not have read the blog, had it not been for the analogy http://bobsprankle.com/bitbybit_wordpress/?p=349/ .
